Our Backyard — Alta Plaza Park

Just across the street from our schoolhouse door sits one of San Francisco's most beloved green spaces — and we consider ourselves incredibly lucky to call it our own.

Alta Plaza Park crowns the top of Pacific Heights with sweeping panoramic views, wide open lawns, and a beauty that feels almost too good to be true on a clear San Francisco morning. It is meticulously maintained, safe, and cherished by the surrounding community — and for our children, it is simply the park. The place where the best parts of the day happen.

For us, the park is not a field trip destination. It is an extension of our classroom — one without walls, without limits, and full of possibility. Every day, our children spill out of the schoolhouse and into this remarkable space for supervised outdoor play, exploration, and movement. Whether they are racing up terraced hillside lawns, digging in the dirt, or simply watching a cloud drift overhead, they are doing exactly what children are meant to do.

Fresh air, open space, and the freedom to move — these things matter deeply to us. Alta Plaza Park makes them possible every single day, and it remains one of the many reasons families choose — and love — Alta Plaza Preschool.
